This blog is written by Patrick Fafard. I am a political scientist with a special interest in health policy, especially public health, and issues of federalism and intergovernmental relations. I am Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa. I hold a Ph.D. in Political Studies from Queen’s University. I am the author and co-editor of several publications dealing with health policy, public health, federalism and environmental policy. I enjoyed an extensive career in government and most recently served as Director General, Strategic Policy and Research, in the Intergovernmental Affairs Secretariat of the Privy Council Office. Before joining the Government of Canada I worked for the Governments of Alberta, Ontario and Saskatchewan where I served as the Executive Director of the Commission on Medicare.
